14k Gold Ring Brings Back Memories |

Sometimes I find myself drifting off into a dreamland where I think about the times I spent with my grandparents growing up. My grandmothers and I were very close, and I lost my last one in 2001. I think about both of them often, but there are times when I look at certain things and it takes me back to a point in time, and a memory that I shared with them. Such was the case this morning when I looked down at the 14k gold wedding band that my grandmother gave me. The 14k gold ring is probably more than 50 years old, and it's something that my grandmother wore many years ago. For some time, she actually gave the 14k gold ring to my great grandmother (her mother) who also wore it, so when she gave it to me after my great grandmother died I was honored.
Tears come to my eyes when I think of all the memories attached to one little 14k gold ring. I think about how to people that I loved very much wore the ring, and also about the time when I lost it for almost a year, and was devastated. It had snowed, which is a rare thing in southern Mississippi, and I was out making snowballs to put in the freezer. I know, it's crazy, but snow really is that rare. That evening, I was in the bath and noticed that the 14k gold wedding band was missing from my fingers. I ran out and searched in the yard, looked inside the gloves I was wearing, but no ring.
I cried a river of tears. I loved that 14k gold ring and all that it stood for, and I looked for it for days with no luck. Almost a year later, my dad was moving the freezer that I'd put the snowballs in, and from under the freezer rolled the gold ring. I can't tell you how happy I was that day. I've never been without it since.
This Christmas, I want to give a special 14k gold ring to my daughter, something that she can treasure and that will have sentimental value in her life the way this ring does for me. I've been looking at 14k gold rings at Horizon Discount Center who has a great selection of rings and other jewelry at http://www.horizondiscountcenter.com/. I've narrowed my selection down to three 14k gold rings, and this week I'll make my selection. Life is full of precious moments; we should embrace them all while we can. |
