14k gold

When I found out that I was allergic to gold jewelry that was less than 14K gold I thought it would be a bad thing. But, in the end, it is a very good thing. Of course, I am speaking in a strictly selfish sense. Now, I know that all the gold jewelry that I receive will always be 14K gold or better! What could be wrong with that?

When I was younger, my aunt gave me a pair of gold earrings. I really liked them. The only problem was that I could not wear them. They were not 14K gold and would cause very itchy rashes around my ear and neck. I didn't realize it was the actual gold that was causing it, and it wasn't until I received a gold necklace that we found out I needed to wear 14K gold or more. The necklace would cause severe rashes around my neck, chest, back, and shoulders. The doctor was a little confused at first until he had my necklace tested. While it was being tested, my rash went away. He knew then that I needed to wear 14K gold jewelry or I would break out again.

At first I was devastated because I could not wear gold, which is my favorite. But, then the more I thought about it, the more I actually liked the idea! What could be worse than having to wear 14K gold or better? When I first met my husband he took me out to dinner and presented me with a beautiful set of gold earrings. I asked him if they were 14k gold and he said he did not think so. The look on his face was priceless when I told him I was allergic to anything that was not 14K gold. Since he did not dare give me the earrings that night, he went back to the jewelry store. He was told that they were 14K gold and that he shouldn't worry about any reactions. I was very thankful and still wear them to this day.

Since I like gold jewelry, I will buy new pieces every now and then. I've come to love shopping online and have a few websites that I frequent to see what new 14k gold items they have in stock.
